Tanzanite is believed to have formed five hundred and eighty five million years ago, in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, due to unique geological conditions, where it lay undiscovered until 1967. This newly discovered mineral was thus named Tanzanite. Its geology is so unique that it is unlikely another deposit will ever be found anywhere else in the world and as its only known source is a 4km strip of land near Mount Kilimanjaro, it is predicted that within the next 10 – 12 years no more gem-quality tanzanite will be found. It is a variety of zoisite and member of the epidote family and displays many different hues along the blue - violet colour spectrum.  

It is a rare and high-vibrational crystal and is often referred to as a "self awakening stone" and urges us to become the best version of ourselves that we can whilst activating the spiritual side within each of us.
