Shungite Pyramid (Karelia, Russia)

Shungite is a black, lustrous mineral that is made of 30% - 98% carbon, found mainly in the Karelia region of Russia near the Shunga village. It is estimated to be several billion years old and even to this day scientists can't agree on how it formed or where it first originated from. It contains small amounts of fullernes, which are microscopic, hollow, pure carbon molecule. Fullernes are believed to be an extremely powerful anti-oxidant and are being vigorously studied for there is a multitude of benefits for both health, and nano-technologies. In fact, the group of scientists who discovered fullernes collectively won a Nobel prize in the late 1990's. Until fullernes were found to be in Shungite, their existence in nature wasn't even proven.
