Net Jasper, also known as Spider Web Jasper, is a wonderfully unique and visually striking stone, so called as its appearance displays a distinct pattern of web-like lines reminiscent of a net or spiders web. A magnificent array of intriguing coloured lines on a mostly white background.

Geology & Formation: Chinese Net Jasper is formed in areas where highly explosive, ancient, silica-rich volcanic systems left behind massive deposits of compressed, pale volcanic ash and silica glass. This created the highly durable microcrystalline quartz (the pale stone). Then seismic activity within the active tectonic fault lines across China shattered these hardened, pale deposits. As groundwater seeped down to meet the deep magma systems, hydrothermal venting forced mineral-rich, superheated fluids back up through the cracked blocks of stone. In Chinese Net Jasper, these filling minerals are rich in iron oxides and manganese, which crystalized to form the bold, dark, crisscrossing web lines.
