This beautiful and rare Cerussite with Galena on a matrix of Bladed Barite specimen originates from the Tafilalet Region, Morocco and is sold as seen. It measures approximately 5.5cms x 3.5cms x 2cms and weighs approx. 73g.

Cerussite is composed of lead carbonate and has a relatively high lead content, whilst Galena is a lead sulphide and Barite is a barium sulphate. Cerussite occurs in a variety of geological settings, primarily as a secondary mineral formed through the weathering and alteration of primary lead ores. It is commonly found in oxidized lead deposits, particularly those formed in hydrothermal environments. The name “cerussite” is derived from the Latin word “cerussa,” which means white lead, reflecting its common colour.
