Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz that contains needle-like inclusions of rutile, a titanium dioxide mineral. These needle-like inclusions can appear in golden, reddish, silver, or black tones and the quartz itself can be clear, smoky, or even rose quartz, making each piece totally unique. In a process that can take millions of years, quartz grows around the needle-like rutile trapping the delicate threads inside resulting in breathtaking specimens that look like frozen lightning or golden hair (hence its nickname, Venus Hair Stone).
