Magnetite on Matrix - Imilchil Area, Morocco
A sold as seen, Natural Magnetite on Matrix specimen from Imilchil, Midelt Province, High Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
Dimensions: approx. 4.5cms x 3cms x 1.2cms
Weight: approx. 11g
Details: A 100% natural, un-etched and free of chemical alterations or artificial treatments, mineral specimen featuring small, sharp, jet-black octahedral crystals of metallic Magnetite firmly anchored on its native igneous rock matrix. The crystals sit on a classic granular, altered hornblende/pyroxene (Syenite) matrix typical of the unique Late Jurassic alkaline complexes of the High Atlas region. The matrix also shows a natural, light iron-oxide (limonite) staining, highlighting the authenticity of the specimen and proving it has not been aggressively acid washed. The crystals display excellent geometric form, highlighted by striking triangular faces that catch the light beautifully.
Geology & History: These unique specimens formed during the Late Jurassic period (around 150 million years ago). As alkaline magmas pushed through the earth, they collided with ancient salt walls, unleashing highly specific hydrothermal fluids. These iron-rich fluids cooled slowly in deep rock veins, allowing the magnetite to grow into these exceptionally sharp, perfect geometric octahedrons, sometimes alongside a specific suite of exotic minerals associated with this region: Feldspar (Orthoclase/Microcline); Analcime & Natrolite; Melanite Garnet; Hornblende (and Arfvedsonite); and Sphene (Titanite).
Metaphysical Properties: Celebrated as a master stone of grounding and stability, Magnetite is highly prized for its powerful positive-negative polarity and is used to align energy flows, dispel negativity, and anchor focus. Because it is naturally magnetic, it is traditionally used as a tool for manifestation - symbolically helping "attract" alignment and balance while "repelling" stress and overstimulation.
Chakra: Root
Birthsign: Aries, Virgo, Aquarius & Capricorn
Please Note: This is a natural unique specimen and may have its own small imperfections such as inclusions, pits or markings within the crystal itself - this is part of its natural beauty and as nature intended.
