Larimar Tumblestone
Larimar is a volcanic type of the silicate mineral pectolite, an acid silicate hydrate of calcium and sodium where copper replaces calcium, creating its distinct blue hues. Pectolite is found in many locations, but Larimar has a unique volcanic blue coloration, and is one of the rarest gemstones on Earth, found exclusively in a single square kilometre in the mountainous region of Barahona in the Dominican Republic.
Colour can vary from whitish blue to green-blue or even deep blue and the presence of a brown or black volcanic matrix (hematite or chalcocite inclusions) is also a natural characteristic of the stone. It is sometimes also known as “Dolphin Stone” or “Goddess Stone”.
Larimar has a beautiful calming energy and is often celebrated as a stone of peace, and is believed to encourage clear communication, soothe stress, and promote emotional healing.
