Geology & History: Creedite is a rare, relatively soft and fragile, calcium aluminium sulphate fluoro hydroxide mineral. It typically forms through the oxidation of fluorite ore deposits and is highly sought after by mineral collectors for its unique, spiky crystal formations that frequently form distinct, radiating needle-like (acicular) prismatic sprays. The vibrant orange clusters are often described as looking like "hedgehog" or "porcupine" spikes. It can range in colour from vibrant orange and intense purple (lavender) to white, pink, or completely colourless and features a vitrous lustre.

The mineral was first discovered in 1916 in the Creede Quadrangle located in Mineral County, Colorado, USA, which is where it gets its name, but the most spectacular, museum-grade orange and purple specimens are heavily sourced from the Navidad Mine in Durango, Mexico. Other notable global deposits exist in Kazakhstan, China, and Bolivia.

Metaphysical Properties: It is said to be a high vibrational stone and is often used in visualization and meditative practices. It is primarily associated with the Crown and Third Eye Chakras but also stimulates the Sacral Chakra.
