7 pieces of Native Copper from the world-famous Keweenaw Peninsula "Copper Country" in Michigan, USA.
Two pieces of Native Copper; one showcasing an elongated, highly complex, and jagged skeletal formation and the other is a asymmetrical splash-shaped nugget retaining wonderful greyish, gritty patches of raw volcanic basalt matrix trapped in the upper recesses.
Two pieces of Native Copper, one piece is a smooth, flat specimen formed when copper was hydraulically injected into a narrow bedrock fault line. The other is a dense, heavy nugget featuring a striking inclusion of bright white quartz or calcite matrix locked right into its centre.

This listing is for a beautiful, highly aesthetic 7-piece collection of 100% authentic Native Copper nuggets sourced from the world-famous Keweenaw Peninsula ("Copper Country") in Michigan, USA.

With a combined total weight of 183 grams, this diverse collection showcases multiple distinct natural geological growth habits - ranging from dense volcanic pocket formations to flat sheet veins. This is a sold as seen collection meaning you will receive the exact specimens shown in the photographs.

Each piece has been lightly acid-cleaned and batch-tumbled by a collector to strip away the harsh outer oxidation crust. This process exposes the bright, shimmering metallic luster of the pure copper while beautifully preserving the natural, irregular contours of the stone.

These specimens are over 1.1 billion years old. They originated from ancient volcanic rifting that formed the massive basaltic lava flows of the Mid-Continent Rift System in Michigan. As the lava cooled, superheated, mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids forced pure elemental copper into the remaining gas pockets and structural fractures. This process created the purest native copper deposits on Earth.

Then, during the last Ice Age, roughly 10,000 years ago, massive continental glaciers advanced across Michigan. These miles-thick sheets of ice violently plucked copper masses right out of the volcanic bedrock. Trapped inside the moving ice, these pieces were "floated" across the landscape. They were scoured, rolled, and naturally tumbled against sand and gravel before being left behind in the glacial soil.

This collection contains 7 distinct pieces of Native Copper from Michigan, making it an excellent instant display set, educational lot, or premium material for wire-wrapping jewellery makers:

- Piece 1: Sculptural Masterpiece - 39g and measuring approx. 63mm x 20mm x 13mm. It is an elongated, highly complex, and jagged skeletal formation, featuring deep internal negative spaces and small traces of dark-green volcanic epidote matrix nestled deep inside its crevices.

- Piece 2: Tactile Flat "Vein" Sheet - 37g and measuring approx. 45mm x 30mm x 5mm. It is a smooth, flat specimen formed when copper was hydraulically injected into a narrow bedrock fault line. It is highly tactile and makes a perfect pocket "worry stone."

- Piece 3: Knobbly Quartz Inverted Cluster - 36g and measuring approx. 40mm x 28mm x 11mm. It is a dense, heavy nugget featuring a striking inclusion of bright white quartz or calcite matrix locked right into its centre.

- Piece 4: "Fish-Shaped" Nugget - 25g and measuring approx. 50mm x 35mm x 5mm. It is an incredibly unique, asymmetrical splash-shaped nugget with a highly recognizable silhouette. It retains wonderful greyish, gritty patches of raw volcanic basalt matrix trapped in the upper recesses.

- Pieces 5, 6, and 7: Smooth Trinity Trio - These are three classic, highly rounded nuggets that range from 13 grams to 19 grams each, measuring between 20-30mm. Because of their smaller size, the tumbling process has polished them into smooth, brilliant metallic pieces that feel incredibly dense in your hand.

These are cleaned and lightly tumbled mineral specimens that are entirely safe to handle.

**Please note: Natural copper will naturally develop a deeper, beautiful antique patina over time if exposed to moisture and air.**
