Brown Snowflake Obsidian is a chocolate-brown variety of obsidian which features rich, warm earthy tones speckled with pale, feathery white "snowflake" patterns created completely by nature.

Geology & Formation: Obsidian isn’t a mineral, but rather an amorphous (crystalless) volcanic glass and these stones began as molten, silica-rich rhyolitic lava extruded from a volcano. The lava cooled so rapidly upon reaching the surface that standard mineral crystals had no time to grow, "freezing" into a flawless, natural glass matrix. The warm brown background colour is caused by microscopic traces of iron impurities (such as hematite) trapped inside the cooling glass. Over thousands of years, the glass underwent a slow process called devitrification, whereby microscopic pockets of water triggered internal crystallization, causing needle-like clusters of cristobalite (a form of quartz) to grow radially outward.

Metaphysical Properties: Brown Snowflake Obsidian (often called Chocolate Snowflake Obsidian) is celebrated as a stone of gentle transformation and absolute grounding. Its rich earth energy works to anchor scattered or anxious minds, pulling the focus back into the present moment. Like all obsidians, it acts as a protective mirror, drawing buried emotions and outdated habits to the surface. However, its unique brown matrix offers a much softer, warmer, and less jarring energy than intense black obsidian, making it perfect for processing grief or stress gently.

Chakra: Root & Third Eye
Birthsign: Virgo & Capricorn

You will receive one handpicked stone measuring approx. 20-30mm.

Care Instructions: Obsidian is a natural glass so can chip easily if dropped on hard surfaces so handle with care.

Please Note: These are natural stones and each is unique but may have its own small imperfections such as inclusions, pits or markings within the crystal itself - this is part of their natural beauty and as nature intended. Tumbling these stones may polish off some of these imperfections but not always all of them.
