The name "palo santo" means "holy wood" in Spanish and this wood has become renown for its purported healing properties and is said to be beneficial for relieving stress and anxiety. It is also believed to clear negative energy and promote positive thinking and is often used instead of the more traditional "sage". The smell of palo santo is quite unique and unlike other aromatic woods.  It is often described as a bright, lemony but sweet smell with a hint of pine and a backnote of a musky woody aroma.
